How Does the Gallus Detox Method Work?

We begin with patient assessments: A Psychological and Social Assessment is performed to determine the patient's mental condition so we know how they may respond during the detox process. Then the patient goes through a Physical Assessment including vital signs, lab testing, history, and a physical exam. This is essential because substance abuse can hide other health problems such as diabetes or a heart condition which can be exacerbated by sudden withdrawal from alcohol or drugs.

To develop each patient's individual treatment plan, we use a Team approach which includes Board Certified Physicians, Registered Nurses with ICU/ER qualifications, an Addiction Psychologist and the patient themselves. Following the patient assessments, the Team meets to develop a personalized detox treatment plan which is then implemented immediately.

Throughout the detox process, the patient is fully monitored with cardiac telemetry, video technology and personal attention from our Registered Nurses and Technicians on duty 24 hours a day. All of our personnel and processes are in place to ensure effective and safe detoxification, and our medical team closely monitors the patient throughout the detoxification, adapting treatment as needed. "As an active Emergency Medicine Physician with 15 years experience, I have developed a method of treatment through constant trial and error involving multiple patients with various addictions. Rather than basing my methods on out-dated theories and models that are presently used in most detox facilities, I developed this method based upon on my personal experiences treating drug and alcohol emergencies.

"I became deeply concerned while observing the out-dated and even dangerous methods being used routinely within most detox facilities throughout the country. I also have serious concerns about the non-utilization of full cardiac and video monitoring by other facilities during this potentially dangerous process. This unfortunate situation prompted me to right a wrong and develop a truly world-class acute detox facility. At no time was any cost spared from the onset of construction through the smallest detail of treatment.
