Safe, Comfortable Medical Detox:
The Gallus Detox Method
Gallus Alcohol Detox and Drug Detox Treatment Method
The Gallus Detox Method starts with the goal of a successful medical detoxification using IV therapy for safety and to alleviate withdrawal symptoms. IV Therapy Detox is a critical piece of our detox treatment because it gives us the ability to increase, decrease or change medications on a moment's notice to ensure you are comfortable. No waiting for slow-acting oral medications to take effect! We will customize your protocol based on how you are feeling minute by minute, and you will be monitored 24/7 by a team of doctors, nurses and medical technicians. While yoga, meditation, saunas, herbs, vitamins and group therapy may be helpful in rehab and recovery, suffering through a "cold turkey" detox is not only unnecessary but can be life threatening.
"The amount of comfort I experienced while detoxing off heroin surpassed all expectations. The staff actually cares and it shows…." - Read more of what our patients say—their own detox success stories—about how fearful they had been of detoxing and withdrawal, how safe and cared for they felt with our team, and how that experience has changed their lives.
We consider patient comfort during detox so important to a successful outcome, we go the extra mile and provide upscale detox facilities to help our patients feel more at home, with private rooms, HDTV, wifi, gourmet meals and massage. We also encourage patients to communicate with their family and friends for additional support during their stay with us. With our expansion, Gallus patients have the option of our Prescott, Arizona detox center or our Houstin, Texas detox center or our Dallas, Texas detox center.
How Does the Gallus Detox Method Work?
We begin with patient assessments: A Psychological and Social Assessment is performed to determine the patient's mental condition so we know how they may respond during the detox process. Then the patient goes through a Physical Assessment including vital signs, lab testing, history, and a physical exam. This is essential because substance abuse can hide other health problems such as diabetes or a heart condition which can be exacerbated by sudden withdrawal from alcohol or drugs.
To develop each patient's individual treatment plan, we use a Team approach which includes Board Certified Physicians, Registered Nurses with ICU/ER qualifications, an Addiction Psychologist and the patient themselves. Following the patient assessments, the Team meets to develop a personalized detox treatment plan which is then implemented immediately.
Throughout the detox process, the patient is fully monitored with cardiac telemetry, video technology and personal attention from our Registered Nurses and Technicians on duty 24 hours a day. All of our personnel and processes are in place to ensure effective and safe detoxification, and our medical team closely monitors the patient throughout the detoxification, adapting treatment as needed. Due to the potential safety concerns of detox, the Gallus Detox Method is conducted by experienced medical professionals with a long history of critical-care and emergency-care capabilities. Adding to their skills is unmatched compassion; you won't find a more caring team anywhere as related in testimonials we've received from our patients.
At Gallus Detox Centers, we consider our patient's privacy and confidentiality of the utmost importance. We can stay in close contact with family members and loved ones at the patient's request.
How & Why Was the Gallus Detox Method Developed?
Dr. Patrick Gallus shares his thoughts on alcohol detox and drug detox treatment methods and developing the Gallus Detox Method:
"As an active Emergency Medicine Physician with 15 years experience, I have developed a method of treatment through constant trial and error involving multiple patients with various addictions. Rather than basing my methods on out-dated theories and models that are presently used in most detox facilities, I developed this method based upon on my personal experiences treating drug and alcohol emergencies.
"I became deeply concerned while observing the out-dated and even dangerous methods being used routinely within most detox facilities throughout the country. While studying this problem at length, I became aware of patients being treated in psychiatric facilities, protocols using out-dated oral medications, doctors making claims of rapid detox when the laws of physiological half-life support no such theory, and nursing staffs that are inexperienced in this critical-care setting. I also have serious concerns about the non-utilization of full cardiac and video monitoring by other facilities during this potentially dangerous process. This unfortunate situation prompted me to right a wrong and develop a truly world-class acute detox facility. At no time was any cost spared from the onset of construction through the smallest detail of treatment.
"At Gallus Detox Centers we concentrate on treating every patient as a person with individual needs, emotions, substances of abuse, and outside concerns. The basis of our theory is to treat each individual patient safely, with respect and dignity in a timely manner. Our facility provides you a physically safe and emotionally hopeful environment to continue on to your next phase of recovery. Our treatment is based on many factors that change constantly. We pride ourselves in adapting your specific care to these changes on a moments notice if needed. Claiming to operate a world-class detox facility is a bold statement. My staff and I stand by this statement and truly believe we have achieved this at Gallus Detox."
