A National Survey of Substance Abuse Treatment Services (N-SSATS) indicates the number of detox and rehab treatment centers in Wyoming changed very little between 2002 and 2006. There were 57 facilities with 33 being private nonprofit and 11 private for-profit.

Many facilities offer one form of care and in the survey, 44 of the detox and rehab centers offered outpatient programs and 16 offered inpatient, residential care. There were 13 physicians and 2 treatment programs certified to provide treatment for opioid (opiates such as prescription pain killers and heroin) abuse. Additionally, 96 physicians were certified to provide buprenorphine treatment for opiate addiction.

When researching medical detox programs, you'll find there are actually very few specialized detox centers in Wyoming or elsewhere in the country. Although many rehab facilities offer some type of detoxification program, their treatment program may be completely "natural" or "holistic" and based solely on vitamins, saunas, yoga and meditation. A non-medical program may not be safe for alcoholics or drug addicts with long-term dependency and questionable health. Central Wyoming Counseling Center: Central Wyoming Counseling Center is a non-profit Community Mental Health and Substance Abuse Treatment Center that is dedicated to helping Residents of Wyoming. The Center receives funding through contracts established with the State of Wyoming, Mental Health and Substance Abuse Divisions, Behavioral Health Division and the Natrona County School District.
