The most recent National Survey of Substance Abuse Treatment Services (N-SSATS) indicates the number of detox and rehab treatment centers in Washington has increased steadily since from 310 facilites in 2002 to 439 in 2006. The increase was mostly from additional private for-profit and private nonprofit facilities.

In 2006, about 90% of the detox and rehab centers offered some form of outpatient treatment, 60 facilities offered inpatient care, and 17 offered treatment for opioid (opiates such as prescription pain killers and heroin) abuse.
