The National Survey of Substance Abuse Treatment Services of 2006 stated the number of treatment facilities in Utah had increased from 118 in 2003 to 133. Of these, 57 were private nonprofit, 51 were private for-profit and 1 facility was owned or operated by a Tribal authority or local, State or Federal government. This increase was due to 12 new private for-profit centers.
Of all the Utah treatment centers in 2006, 108 offered some type of outpatient care while 45 provided in-house/in-patient residential treatment. Ten facilities offered opioid programs, and 67 physicians were certified to provide buprenorphine treatment for opiate abuse.
When researching medical detox programs, you may be surprised to find very few specialized medical detox centers in Utah or anywhere in the country.
