According to a National Survey of the Substance Abuse Treatment Services, there were 351 treatment centers in New Jersey in 2006. Of those facilities, 206 were private non-profit, 121 were private for-profit and the balance were owned or operated local, State or Federal government. The total number had increased by 36 since 2002 with the majority of those being private for-profit centers.
In 2006, the majority of New Jersey detox and rehab centers provided some form of outpatient care while 56 facilities provided in-house/in-patient residential care. During that time, 365 physicians and 57 programs had been certified to provide buprenorphine for opiate dependency.
