A 2006 National Survey of Substance Abuse Treatment Services reported the number of treatment facilities in Louisiana was 145. Of these, 53 were private nonprofit, 38 were private for-profit and 2 were owned or operated by a Tribal authority. The total number had dropped from a high of 167 in 2002. This decrease was due to a loss of 11 private nonprofit centers and 12 owned/operated by local, State or Federal government.
