Colorado Alcohol & Drug Detox Facilities
The 2005 National Survey of Substance Abuse Treatment Services reported the number of treatment facilities in Colorado as 443. The majority of these, 245, were private for-profit with 165 being private non-profit. The total number had increased since 2002 from 389 to 443. Most of these were additional private for-profit facilities.
About 94% of the Colorado treatment centers in 2006 provided some form of outpatient program while the remaining facilities provided in-house/in-patient residential care. At that time, 22 facilities offered assistance for opiate abuse. 104 physicians and 18 programs had been certified to provide buprenorphine as treatment for opioid addiction.
When looking for a supervised medical detox program, you'll find there are actually very few specialized detox centers in Colorado or anywhere in the country. Although many rehabilitation centers may offer some type of detoxification program, this treatment could be completely "natural" and based solely on vitamins, saunas, yoga and meditation. A non-medical program may not be safe for alcoholics or drug addicts with extreme dependency or questionable health. Also, withdrawal symptoms may be so severe and painful that a patient can't continue with a "cold turkey" program. In fact, many of our patients are referred to us by rehab and recovery facilities. When a medical detox is needed for safety and comfort, Gallus Detox Centers should be considered.
